That is how the bottle looks
when we have emptied it together.
I considered the motion of your throat
as you swallowed or talked art
A whip of a man
and not tall
I’ve heard your light steps sinking into the sidewalks of Baltimore
I smell your cologne there and sometimes in Manhattan
Guide my hand in yours across the paper
You are whiskey breath and a slight pressure behind me
I watch the motion of my brown hand
try to understand the motion of my brown hand
the wheels,
the gears inside it.
Now the dusk: the slosh of deepening night aganst the walls,
the darkness like standing water and I am without shoes.
You don’t breathe behind me
the room is empty now.
I notice the curl and sweep of letters
I notice the sums of those letters and the sums of those sums
but I forget again and grab my coat to find you.
I know
Chinamen will jump when they hear this.

"the darkness like standing water and I am without shoes."
nice line.
once again you can see my praises. you captured what seems like many moments painting a picture and giving me a feeling of something I think I may have felt.
"but I forget again and grab my coat to find you."
this caught me, and I can relate.
I may be liking your writing too much.
very glad now that I came back.
